USB flash drives are great, but how to protect the USB flash drive password in case you lose?
Being able to carry a lot of files in a small device that fits easily into your pocket is something completely new for most of us. Until recently, we used floppy disks or written to a CD. But all that changed with the advent of sloppy USB flash drive that can hold several gigabytes of data – ideal for the files you need access wherever youare.
Individual files can be easily protected by a password. PDF, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, Access databases can have a password upon registration. This makes them reasonably safe from prying eyes. I say reasonably sure that nothing is completely unbreakable. Sorry.
But what if you want to protect files from more than a little '? Or if you prefer the convenience of typing a password and then everything is protectedavailable?
If you do not mind the hassle, there is a free program called Cryptania LE. It is fairly easy to use and free to download, but must be separated from your USB drive up to 25Mb segments. Nowadays, it is rather low. Just a handful of full-resolution photos from your digital camera, for example.
Otherwise, there is a program that protects your personal files on your flash drive. These programs are very inexpensive and quite comfortable.
OnlySave password choice and not keep it anywhere obvious. This means that the scribbles on the USB stick itself and Post-It notes were bad ideas!
